Circles. Dots. Spheres. 57/365 & 58/365

So, I decided to do a theme: Circles! I figured I'd start with something fairly easy for my first themed week of photos :) I'm having a lot of fun with it already--you don't notice how many circles are around in your daily life until you're looking for them!

Day 57 of 365...

I'm not going to tell you what this is...maybe you can guess?
:)

Day two of my circle-themed week:
Day 58 of 365...

Mmm...Thin Mints...Thank goodness Maddie & Zachary's mom bought some ;)
I've been resisting the little darlings freezing outside of grocery stores for the last week...I'm not gonna last much longer, especially now that I had my taste today!
I'll probably break down next time I have to go to the store...at least it's for a good cause, yes?

I registered for classes for next quarter this afternoon...and for the first time in a long time I didn't have ANY trouble! Woohoo!! Also my first time registering on the first day of registration...finally gettin' into the big leagues.  So, next quarter I'll be taking my science practicum, the third Eled math class, and two English classes--which is only 17 credits...one less than this quarter! Should be an interesting quarter. Hopefully better than this one!

Cruisin' 56/365

Where is Spring? Can I just throw that out there before I even really start this post? And where is all this snow coming from!?!  I just want the flowers and the sunshine.

Anyway...this morning I picked Maddie up from her ballet class, which was a first for me! Usually I go to their house after she gets home on Saturdays, but a change of plans today so we loaded her car seat up in my little car and I drove her home! She was very excited to be riding in Miss Camille's car, so naturally we took a picture :)  (we also had to wait for it to warm up a little...)

Day 56 of 365...

She thinks I'm a little nutty because I'm always taking pictures...but she secretly loves it.
After we got home today I was helping her get dressed and she wanted to choose her socks, so she chose a pair of lime green socks with flowers on them, and she told me that when she gets married she's going to have socks just like the ones she was putting on...perfect. :)

Two full weeks left of the quarter...let the countdown begin.

Sky Paintings 55/365

Finally starting to feel better today--not 100% but much better than yesterday at least! But my poor Andy seems to be getting it now...oops. My turn to take care of him now! He's not a big baby like I am though--lucky for me ;)

Day 55 of 365...

Clear skies and freezing today, note the snow still on the ground from yesterday morning.
As much as I really don't like the cold weather, I do love the colors in the sky that tend to accompany it.
I just wish that I could take pictures of the stars! They've been so bright and beautiful lately--kind of how they look from the middle of nowhere, where there aren't any city lights to drown them out.

So, I'm thinking of doing some weekly themes for my photos...not every week, but maybe once a month or so, just to keep things new and fun... yes? I have a few in mind, but I always love suggestions :)

Epic Fail 52-54/365

Ohh wow...triple fail this time, whoops! Can I just say that I cannot wait for this quarter to be over?! Everything finally caught up to me and I got sick this week, right before my math test, of course. Luckily, I haven't really been sick in a while, so I can't complain too much...but I'm kind of a baby when I get sick. I'm so glad my Andy is willing to take care of me :)

Day 52 of 365...

This was a completely random picture that I snapped right before my class started on Tuesday (the 22nd)
The window was open and the wind was pulling the curtains out--I thought it looked kind of cool!
Notice how many holes are in the curtains too..classy.

Day 53 of 365...

Wednesday (the 23rd) was when I really started feeling crappy...chills, coughing, sore throat, headache and a temperature of 101.5...the whole shebang.  Needless to say, I slept for about 13 hours.
My Andy, being the wonderful boyfriend he is, made me chicken and matzo ball soup from scratch!
How lucky am I? It was so yummy and made me feel a lot better :)

 Day 54 of 365...

Still feeling crappy today, though not quite as bad, so I ended up taking my math test this morning--I definitely feel better about this one than I did about the last.
Andy made dinner again tonight, and while he was doing that I got to take a much needed bath. I haven't taken a bath in forever, I tend to forget how nice it is, especially when you don't feel good.

Also hoping never to miss three days in a row on my photo a day again!
(However, I'm not making any promises)

The Nanny 51/365

Today, it really struck me that I am the nanny for Maddie and Zachary--I made all three meals for them today, bathed them, and entertained them for 9 1/2 hours--I guess before today I felt more like "the babysitter" than "the nanny."  What really drove it home for me though, was that the kids' dad didn't even know what time their mom was coming home from her business trip...I did! What!?
Anyway...since I was with the kiddos all day today, of course my photo is of them.
Day 51/365...

Do you even have to guess what they were singing?
Babe-uh, babe-uh, babe-uuhhh, aaawwwhhh!
I've now started singing along to Justin Bieber...Next thing you know, I'll be going to see his damn movie.

Also, we made Shrinky Dinks and it was amazing.
Flashback!

I kind of want to buy some just to make on my own...
I forgot how great these things are!

Day 3 with the darlings tomorrow...hopefully not such a long day, I'm starting to wonder how I'm going to finish all of my homework! Although I did do some reading today...a little "Nick Jr." never hurt the kids ;)
At least I don't have 8 a.m. class! Always a plus.

And now I'm past midnight...shoot!

Play at Work 50/365

Whoa! 50 days already! If I had realized that earlier today maybe I would have taken a special picture...but I didn't and oh well :)  I was nannying all day today, and since it was sunny again we went outside and played for a while, (still freezing though) which we haven't done in a long time! It's always nice to let them run around and get some energy out.
Day 50 of 365...

They were chasing each other with foam swords for a good 10 minutes--
just running laps around their playground. Oh, to be a kid again!
I had another picture that you can see the swords in, but it was so blurry it was embarrassing!
I couldn't have that floating around the internet forever...

Also, today I listened to "Baby" by Justin Bieber about 100 times today because Zachary loves it and he once told me that "when 'baby, baby, aawwh' turns on, I just have to sing and dance! I can't stop!"
And that he does.  (They call the Biebs "baby, baby, aawwh" because of the song, but they pronounce it more like "babe-uh" - hilarious.)

I have 9 1/2 hours with these kiddos tomorrow...the longest amount of time since I started nannying them! It could get interesting...I don't know how much more Justin Bieber I can handle.

Teacher Toys 49/365

Ooh cuttin' it close tonight! Good thing I made sure to take multiple photos during the beautiful day we had today--hooray for not scrambling to take a photo!
Andy and I went on a little mission to Michael's craft store so I could get some things to do with the kiddos this weekend--always dangerous--and being my teacher-self took over and I had to get this bad boy...
Day 49 of 365...

A "Cat in the Hat" pointer!! And there's a light on the tip of the finger...o.m.g. I almost died.
This will be the talk of the town in my future kindergarten classroom ;)
Of course, most people aren't as excited about this as I am, my roommate Briana, for instance, had NO idea what it even was! Oh well...I still love it.

Better get this posted before midnight! I need to start doing this earlier...

These Boots are Made for Walkin' 48/365

This morning while I was getting ready for class, I was trying to figure out what to wear (the bane of my existence) and I was trying on different boots...then I realized just how many pairs of boots I have! So I decided to...you guessed it...photograph it! And so here are my many boots...
Day 48 of 365...

Think I have enough black? Good thing it goes with everything!
I've actually been wanting a new pair too...hmm... ;)

Also, Andy and I watched "Unstoppable" last night--it's with Denzel and Chris Pine, and they're trying to stop a runaway train, to keep it simple.  It was really good! An excellent suspenseful-thriller, and Denzel is always a plus.
And now, a new Grey's Anatomy--love it

Stormy Weather 47/365

Wow the weather has been nasty around here lately! Windy and rainy and coooold--I thought the groundhog said spring! Too bad Punxsutawny Phil is only right about half the time. Well, even though today was cold and windy and rainy, the clouds cleared up for a little while and the moon was out, big and bright!
Day 47 of 365...

This was around 5:30 this evening...
Still a little depressing that the moon is out that early, but at least it looked cool!
(Here I go again with the sky pictures)

I think I need to start giving myself themes of some kind for photographs...maybe weekly themes?
Just so that I have something specific to keep an eye out for, I feel like I've been slacking on my photos and I need something to liven them up! We'll see...more to come on this idea.

All You Need is Love 45/365 & 46/365

Love, love, love...

Valentine's Day Dinner
Day 45 of 365...

This year we went to Anthony's Hearthfire Grill, and it was super yummy!
I always love a good excuse to go out for good food :)
And Valentine's Day is a very good excuse!

 Day 46 of 365...

This was my Valentine from Maddie and Zachary :)
(okay, so it was basically from their mom, but they signed the card)
Pretty cute, and I love me some Ferrero chocolates! Yum!

Lame post today, sorry, at least I actually did it today! This every-other-day thing is becoming a bit of a habit...but I'm trying to break it, really! I just need a few more hours in the day...

Cupid's Factory 43/365 & 44/365

Yeah, yeah...I know...I'm totally failing lately; and I'm oh so sorry! Life gets in the way...well more often sleep takes priority, but you know, life. Anyway...I spent a large portion (probably too large) of my time this weekend doing Valentine's Day things...I finished my Valentines and cookies :) now if I could just get the motivation to finish my homework...

Here are some of my Valentines!
Day 43 of 365...

So remember that cool idea I mentioned in the last post? Well the design on the little cards, and the big pink card, is that cool idea! Well, kind of...they (click to check out the blog that I found the idea on) had fancy pens that they were using, but I used watercolors for these ones :)
Basically you draw a little heart, and draw one continuous line from the bottom of the heart all around the paper in random loops and whatnot...then you color in some of the spaces and it makes a fun design!
I saw some other examples of these with non-Valentines colors and they were just as cute, I may be addicted...

And speaking of addicted...I got hooked on making these cookies all afternoon! I love baking...it's way more fun than homework!
Day 44 of 365...

It was quite the process to make these bad boys...college kids don't own rolling pins, so I used a glass to roll the dough.  Also, college kids don't own KitchedAid mixers, so I used a handheld electric mixer and let me tell you...they are not as efficient.
But they turned out quite well if I do say so myself! (Especially the frosting ;) )
I'm taking some to class tomorrow to share for Valentine's Day :)
Just spreading the love!

Also, today is the "Love is the Movement" day to write "love" on your arms in support of suicide prevention. Don't know what I'm talking about? Check out To Write Love on Her Arms

Happy Almost Valentine's Day!

Homemade Valentines 42/365

So, instead of nannying tonight...I did crafts :) I made Valentines to be exact...well, I started to. It was taking a reeeeally long time and I got impatient so Andy and I watched a movie [The Town - it was pretty good!] aaand that's why this post is late, because the movie just got over--but at least I'm doing it before I go to bed!
Day 42 of 365...

I kind of took over Andy's table to do my crafts--he doesn't mind too much ;)
I found a super cool idea for decorating Valentines online tonight and I was working away at it,
I won't tell you what it is just yet though...I'll post the finished product and then tell you how I did it/where I found it! Otherwise you'll have no idea what on Earth I'm talking about.

Also, I'm making my Gram's "Pink Cookies" (secret recipe) this weekend and I'm so excited! Yum!
They're my favorite and I've been dying to make cookies lately--it's been way too long!

Still have no idea what to do for my Andy...I have a couple ideas in mind but nothing special. Hmm...

Mr. Golden Sun 41/365

Oh, Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun... Today was such a nice day! Clear skies and sunny--just what I needed! I think the gray days were getting to me a little bit. Today I woke up super grumpy, for no reason, but I while I was taking a shower I decided I was going to be happy and have a good day...and then I did :)
Ahh the power of positive thinking.
Day 41 of 365...

So, I know I take a lot of pictures of the sky...but it's just so hard not to!
And I like the way this tree looks against the bright blue.
It's starting to feel like spring finally...but I'm not going to get too carried away yet.
You never know in Washington!

I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday! Just one class in the morning, and then the weekend. Hopefully I'll have a little more time to relax this weekend; I'm actually not nannying tomorrow, which will be strange, but nice!

Also...I need to figure out what to do for my Andy for Valentine's Day...I can't believe it's so soon!  Not that Valentine's is a huge deal to me, I like it because I have Andy...but if I'm single when it rolls around I tend to feel quite the opposite.  It's become such a "Hallmark" holiday anyway--I just like the excuse to go to a nice dinner and maybe give/get a little gift ;)

I might just make cookies...

What Day Is It? 39/365 & 40/365

Woooowww...I've really been slacking lately! I'm starting to feel like I'm drowning in schoolwork all the time. And then I lose track of time! Ahh well...just a few more weeks left in the quarter!

Yesterday I almost didn't get a photo because I was up late doing homework, but at the last minute I snapped a lame one the literacy word sorts I was making. Welcome to the rest of my life :)
Day 39 of 365...

This is what I was doing until 1 a.m.
I don't even feel like it's procrastination anymore...I really just have that much to do.

I need to quit bitching.
Luckily, the photo from today is a nice one :)
Day 40 of 365...

Beautiful morning, and beautiful day!
(7 a.m...not such a beautiful hour, but at least it looked like this outside)

Also, I got to see my daddy for a little bit today!
It was a nice little break and I needed a little dose of family this week.

I'm going to bed soon because I am so sleep deprived--I could probably sleep for 24 hours straight, if I had the time!

Paparazzi 38/365

Tonight Miss Maddie and I were playing paparazzi...she loves the camera! Both taking photos, and being in them.  I just love this one I got of her, it's so Maddie :)
Day 38 of 365...

Here are a few gems from tonight courtesy of little Maddie:
First, she told me that she wants to be two things when she grows up:
 "a 'kinga-garten' teacher and a doctor"
For those of you who don't speak three-year-old, that's "kindergarten teacher," imagine how proud I was! Like a proud mama (almost).
Later in the evening she decided that "chickens have hearts in their tummies...like we have our hearts in our tummies!"

So there you have it, apparently the way to anybody's (including a chicken) heart is through their stomach ;)

SuperBowl Sunday 37/365

Ahh SuperBowl Sunday...a day of football festivities, for those that care about football (and for some that don't).  I did watch the game...well, okay I did tons of homework during the game, but I watched most of the commercials (because we all know that's the best part) and the atrocious half-time show (kind of wishing I hadn't).  I mostly hung around because the new Glee was on afterward! And it was so good :)
Day 37 of 365...

Since the game was during prime homework time, this was my view for the majority of it.
I did finish the whole textbook AND project that I was bitching talking about last night though!
Well okay, still some minor details to add to the project before it's due tomorrow, but it's basically done ;)

I'm braindead from all the reading I've been doing today so I'm keeping it short tonight.
Also, 8 am class feels much earlier on Mondays.

What Weekend? 35/365 & 36/365

Well, I guess we should have seen this coming...missing two posts in one week....this has been one hell of a week. I would be glad it's over, but it doesn't really feel that way since there's always more to do. Hi, I'm Negative Nancy, who are you? ;)  I'm trying not to be such a grump about it, but I'm tired and I have a whole textbook to finish and do a project on by Monday (I've been in school how long and I still procrastinate? Old habits die hard, I suppose).

Anyway, last night I had my usual Friday night date with the kiddos and it was a particularly easy night! The family got a Wii for Christmas and tons of games, so they spent most of the night playing "Just Dance for Kids," which was, needless to say, hilarious. So, here are my little darlings groovin' away...
Day 35 of 365...

I was trying to get them in action, but it was way too hard (and I kept laughing)
Zach was so into it though; he's got some moves! Their favorite jam of the night: Ants Go Marching

I also nannied again today, and we did lots of crafts! Oh, I do love my crafts :) I found this little nugget online:
Day 36 of 365...

It's a popsicle stick-fish mobile! I had them color the sticks (okay I helped) and then we glued them together, and hung them with yarn from more popsicle sticks. I thought it was pretty cute, except I should have varied the lengths of the yarn more so you can see the fish better, but oh well.

This was a nice study break...I figure if it takes me about 30 minutes to read a chapter, and 10 minutes to find/write the key points for each, and I have 6 chapters left....I've got about 4 more hours left with this textbook. And then on to the project!

Have I mentioned recently how much I love college?

Thursday, February 3, 2011

Book Club 34/365

By now you all know how much I love books, and especially children's books, so last night when I went to a book club for a class and books were on sale for 1$...how could I resist!? But I was a good girl and only bought 3.  (Books are one of the only things I don't feel bad buying!) Of course I had to take a picture to share my newest finds :)
Day 34 of 365...

From left to right: Garmann's Summer by Stian Hole, Tupelo Rides the Rails by Melissa Sweet, and Tell Me Lies by Patrick Cooper.
I haven't read any of them yet--but Garmann came highly recommended, Tupelo has a lot of great information about the constellations, and Tell Me Lies just sounded downright interesting!
I'm very excited to read all three :)
(I know...such a teacher...)

No class tomorrow (hallelujah) and I am so looking forward to sleeping in an not having to wake up to an alarm, it's such a nice feeling.  Tomorrow my main goal is to clean my room! This week was just insane and so my room kind of looks like a bomb hit it...yikes...I'd rather read my new books.

15 Seconds of Fame 33/365

This evening I was watching the WWU women's basketball game (for whatever reason) with my roommates and as we were sitting there, a commercial for Western came on. We saw a couple of people that we recognized in the commercial, so I said "I want to be in this commercial!" and about 10 seconds later, there I was!! Well my roommates and I about died laughing, so we rewound and recorded the commercial on DVR so I could take a picture...
Day 33 of 365...

Apparently I'm a nice portrayal of a student "engaging in their own learning" ;)
(And if you've never read Not Norman, you should)
This was just too funny to not photograph; and too ironic that my picture popped up right after I commented on wanting to be in the commercial!

So there you have it, my 15 seconds of fame.
Ahh, the little things :)

A Case of the Mondays x2 31/365 & 32/365

So it seems I've had a case of the Mondays (Office Space, anyone?) for the last two days...Maybe you could call it a case of the midterms, but since I only have one actual midterm that doesn't really work.  I'll spare you the  lame details, but I did leave my math midterm in tears today...math and I are fairweather friends. Ah well, ce la vie.

On the upside, the weather has been beautiful lately! And, since I've been up at the unholy hours that the sun rises for the last couple days, I did manage to get some cool photos. The colors in the sky never cease to amaze me.

Day 31 of 365... (a whole month! woohoo!)

The date stamp on this photo is wrong--I swear I took it on Monday!
At about 7:30 in the morning on my way to class.

And this one really was taken today! (I think maybe I'll just turn the date stamp off)
This one was at about 7:15 this morning, when I got up early to study for the evil math midterm.

I just want to sleep for 24 hours straight and get caught up; however tomorrow is not the time to do it--class at 8 again. (I don't think it's getting any easier to wake up that early...)
